Screen shot 2014-01-14 at 12.51.40 PM

Whatup World,

2014 Festival Season is already fast approaching!  With the lineups announced for Coachella, New Orleans Jazz Festival,  SXSW (coming soon), etc., it seems this year will be pretty epic!  However, a 3rd year newbie to festival season continues to take it to the next level.  The Firefly Music Festival in Dover, Delaware will be held  June 19-22 with this crazy lineup.  Outkast, Foo Fighters and Jack Johnson head the bill.  The bands w/ asterisks are #SwitchFlip Certified.  Tickets go on sale Monday January 20th.  Click the images for the website.  It looks like we will be heading back East this year for certain, as our head honcho Damon Howard is originally from this area and was involved with the inaugural event!

EDIT: Sorry folks, they shut the 2014 mashup video down on Youtube, but peep this if you want to see last year’s post movie.  http://www.youtube.com/user/FireflyMusicFestival

Jay Z: Holy Grail ft/Justin Timberlake

Happy Friday Earthlings,

Jay Z just dropped the official video for “Holy Grail”  featuring Justin Timberlake (who completely destroyed it at MTV’s VMA Awards this year by the way).  The video was released yesterday strictly via Facebook for the first 24 hours, giving a nod to social media’s power as a platform for music and promotions.  Directed by Anthony Mandler, the video has stunning contrasts of darks, lights and slow motion frames.  Our brother Jonas Morales was of course the Assistant Director for this one.  The two of them also won a VMA award for Best Pop song for Selena Gomez’ Come & Get it. Check Jonas “Making Moves” Morales out below with Jay Z and his big ass boss chain!  Oh, happy birthday to Jonas this weekend as well!

Talib Kweli: Prisoner of Consciousness

Talib-Kweli-Prisoner-Of-ConsciousWhatagwan Wurld,

Talib Kweli (Black Star/Reflection Eternal) drops his latest solo joing Prisoner of Consciousness today (May 7th).  Critically acclaimed as one of the best MCs to ever spit on the mic, Kweli delivers another classic album full of his signature “Conscious Rap“.  The Brooklyn Bomber features some great collaborations on this one (Kendrick Lamar, Curren$y, Busta Rhymes, Miquel, Nelly, etc).  We are surprised that his main partner Yasiin Bey (aka MOS DEF) doesn’t make an appearance on the album, but Talib is well known to hold his own as the uber-prolific half of the duo Black Star.  Check out the RZA produced “Rocket Ships” and the both coast strong “Push Thru below.  You can stream the album by clicking the title above, but go out and definitely support Talib’s new album via iTunes and all the other cyberstores.
