Firefly Festival 2015: Countdown

Happy Friday Earthlings!

The Firefly Festival is about to begin in T-Minus 5 days!  Can you believe it?  Chicago’s Red Frog Entertainment has now teamed up Los Angeles’ Goldenvoice/AEG Live (the juggernaut behind our county’s largest concert festival…Coachella) for this 4th installment.  Based in good ole lil Dover, Delaware (The First State…who would’ve thunk?) Firefly is expecting over 90,000 people for this year’s turnout.  It’s been growing by leap and bounds each year, doubling in size and breaking attendance records for any summer concert series nationwide.  Even Sir Paul McCartney (of The Beatles, not Kanye West’s buddy, you ignorant youngsters) is headlining the bill.  Check out the Lineup above, and a recap of last year’s event below. Stay tuned for our post on the daily lineup schedule and survival guide.  Hurry to get your tickets because it is almost sold out again!  #switchflipcertified

Whatuppers Wurld,

We are proud to announce our new food hospitality and entertainment client 8th & Union Kitchen.  Our very own resident musician/promoter/ Damon R. Howard will be manning the digital turntables and directing the entertainment ambiance. Using his nationally known moniker (LA’s DJ DameDigi), he teams up with the new restaurant’s creator & longtime friend (owner/chef Brian Ashby) at 8th & Union Kitchen located in the Suburban Philadelphia area.  These two have a track record of success from similar stints in West Hollywood and Venice Beach‘s chic restaurant/bar scene circa 2011-2013.  Opening Week kicked off on April 20th, so you should come check out the scrumptious menu and stellar grooves as this is the first official weekend!

About the Restaurant:

8th & Union Kitchen is a Southeast Asian inspired restaurant located in Wilmington, Delaware’s Little Italy neighborhood. The menu showcases the deep and bright flavors of Thailand and Vietnam among many countries that influence our chef. We use contemporary techniques to prepare coconut based curries, pho, dumplings, summer rolls, salads, and small plates.  The beverage program offers traditional, house, and Tiki cocktails that play into the southeast asian theme. There are 14 beers on draft, some craft, some domestic with a moderately priced small distribution wine selection.

Passion Pit: I’ll Be Alright

Sisters n Bredren,

The wait is over! Beantown’s Passion Pit is gearing up for their July 24th release of sophomore album Gossamer!  Peep the new second single “I’ll Be Alright“.  The glitchy samples and mini breakbeat chops explode into a bright melodic soundscape for which the band is best known.  Besides their signature song chorus structure, you can tell they are growing while feeding off contemporary groups who push the envelope in their genre.  As usual, Michael Angelakos brings the lyrical pain contrasted in that “arms-wide-open” falsetto which undeniably sets the group apart from their peers.  As a bonus, the first single “Take A Walk” is included below as well.  We can’t wait to hear the full album, it’s gonna be a in heavy hipster rotation this summer.

Spiritualized: Hey Jane

Whatitdo Wurld,

Here’s a new single and video by the legendary British Space Rock group Spiritualized called “Hey Jane“.   Not only is the song epic in length, but the video is a truly disturbing short film directed by AG Rojas.  Clocking in around 9 minutes in length, hide your kids and peep it on some downtime.  Their new album Sweet Heart, Sweet Light hits cyberstores in April.  Our fellow LA hipsters can peep them at The Wiltern on May 22nd.  You can catch them on tour in your area here.  Oh, let us know what you think about this mini-flick, if you can stomach it.  If you prefer to see the song live instead, we’ve included their recent performance at UK’s Maida Vale for BBC6.
