Dr. Dre & Snoop: 2Pac Hologram performance at Coachella 2012

Whatido Wurld,

As most of us on Planet Earth has heard or seen by now, Dre & Snoop have outdone themselves w/ their performance at Weekend 1 of Coachella 2012.  Yes, the 2Pac Hologram was even more exciting “live” than any of these videos can do justice!  The surprise “performance” of “Hip Hop’s Elvis” was bittersweet to say the least.  It really looked and sounded like Pac….to the point that many of us old enough to remember Mid 90′s performances by these guys together would’ve sworn they’ve been “quantum leaped” back through time.  SwitchFlip was lucky enough to witness this spectacle from the VIP section, which was the greatest finale concert performance of the year thus far (in our opinion). To see these guys perform “Deep Cover” (their initial hit song 20 years later) and witnessing them command the masses alongside special guest Eminem…not sure if anything else would’ve made Coachella 2012 complete.

Ed Ulbrich (Chief Creative Officer of Digital Domain) described their hologram creation as “most complicated thing that can be done” when fusing synthetic human beings with live performance technology.  Ulbrich goes on to say that Dr. Dre has a massive vision for using holograms in the future.  Although the “cat’s out of the bag” for Weekend 2 Coachella peeps, this will still blow you away when you see it w/ your own eyes.  Snoop & Dre are already planning to include Hologram 2Pacon a limited tour alongside Eminem, 50 Cent & Wiz Khalifa.  As the industry awaits a release date for Dr. Dre’s Detox, instead of holding your breath for the album, enjoy these new technological wonders Andre Young (Dre) has blessed us with in the form of Dr. Dre Beats headphones and now the first of many holograms to come!  Long live 2Pac!

#SwitchFlipCertified PS:  Peep the full length Snoop & Dre performance below as a bonus.  SwitchFlip had to throw in Eminem’s as well.  We are gonna start saving up in case there’s a 2Pac, Biggie, Michael Jackson Hologram Tour w/ DJ Marvin Gaye (backed by Ray Charles on the keys).

50 Cent x Eminem: Till I Collapse Remix (Live @ SXSW Austin)

Whatitdo Wurld,

While everyone nurses their SXSW hangover, here’s a special recap of the 50 Cent performance which aired on live FuseTV.   The Shady 2.0 sponsored event highlighted 50 as the headliner, in which he performed  his hit debut album “Get Rich or Die Trying” in it’s entirety. We are digging this particular special surprise of Eminem destroying it with his protege!  Shout out to Slaugtherhouse and Yelawolf.  Get well soon Catfish Billy (Yela), we missed you rockin’ w/ your crew to make the cypher complete.  Shady 2.0 baby, definitely #switchflipcertified.

Yelawolf: Let’s Roll ft. Kid Rock

Happy Mardi Gras!

Here’s the latest video by Eminem’s Shady Records artist Yelawolf.  The Alabama native’s major label debut album “Radioactive” has been receiving mixed reviews, notably for some of it’s forced “crossover” appeal.  Although these latest singles are more mainstream than the earlier wild style independent efforts, we are seeing this talented MC grow artistically right before our eyes.  If you don’t think this cat has his own delightfully unique rap delivery, then you definitely don’t know what it means to be a real MC.   Kid Rock provides the hook, which is very fitting, since he’s a bonafide Detroit Hip Hop Hick!  I mean, the jacked up cadillac limo alone makes this a sick video.  Yela reps his country roots hard in this one, like a true ‘Bama!  Check it out….Let’s Roll!

BET Hip Hop Awards 2011: Shady 2.0 Cypher

Whatitdo Wurld,

Ayo, Eminem and the Shady 2.0 Crew KILLED the cypher on the BET Hip Hop Awards 2011.   We mean…they destroyed all the other cyphers, in SwitchFlip‘s opinion.  Each of these cats are vicious on the mic. We’ll post a few, but just peep this…unbelievable.  Slaughterhouse, Yelawolf & Eminem.  Even the comic relief between Eminem commanding his crew, and Royce messin’ with Rihanna rumors, shiznit is CRA!  That crew is the illest lyrical crew on the map right now…SwitchFlip Certified!

Bad Meets Evil: Lighters & Life in The Fast Lane

Eminem & Royce the 5’9 are definitely in the same league as Jay-Z &  Kanye West when it comes to pure mic skills.  Here at SwitchFlip we have a lot of conversation about the best SuperDuo out at the moment.  The Throne was definitely “televised” last week.  Jay & Ye killed the internet & radio airwaves, as well as the music & sales charts (now officially “Gold”, selling over 600K copies in 2 weeks).  After all the dust clears, let’s see what you decide.  Here’s Bad Meets Evil’s latest video “Lighters”, which may go way in the pop direction but is a strong song, which will climb the charts so they can actually be a contestant to Watch The Throne.  If you need a lil more boom bap and lyrical dexterity, then I’d suggest peeping this first single (below) ”Life in the Fast Lane” again from the beginning of summer.  Who do you think’s the strongest SuperDuo, The Throne or Bad Meets Evil?  Let us know your thoughts….
