Firefly Festival 2015: Countdown

Happy Friday Earthlings!

The Firefly Festival is about to begin in T-Minus 5 days!  Can you believe it?  Chicago’s Red Frog Entertainment has now teamed up Los Angeles’ Goldenvoice/AEG Live (the juggernaut behind our county’s largest concert festival…Coachella) for this 4th installment.  Based in good ole lil Dover, Delaware (The First State…who would’ve thunk?) Firefly is expecting over 90,000 people for this year’s turnout.  It’s been growing by leap and bounds each year, doubling in size and breaking attendance records for any summer concert series nationwide.  Even Sir Paul McCartney (of The Beatles, not Kanye West’s buddy, you ignorant youngsters) is headlining the bill.  Check out the Lineup above, and a recap of last year’s event below. Stay tuned for our post on the daily lineup schedule and survival guide.  Hurry to get your tickets because it is almost sold out again!  #switchflipcertified

Coachella 2013: Stone Roses vs. Blur

Happy Friday Earthlings,

So, in the battle of the British headliner bands, it looks like Blur Won this time!  The Stone Roses (whom our head honcho D-How says were the pioneers of the Madchester  psychedelic BritPop scene/sound) were the top bill and most highly anticipated.  Well according to the showdown at Coachella‘s  first weekend,  Blur simply put on a better performance entirely.  While Mr. John Squier (guitarist for Stone Roses) and the band absolutely killed it, Ian Brown‘s voice was subpar.  Plus, the crowd didn’t seem to into it…perhaps they weren’t sure what they were witnessing.  However, Blurs performance showcased an arsenal of hits that made loads of young hipsters finally recognize that WooHoo (Song 2) is just an American rubbish single compared to their well composed and performed string of hits. Damon Albarn‘s stage presence and vocals mesmorized the crowd (no Gorillaz songs necessary, staying in true form).  We guess Coachella felt the same way and made Blur the Headliners this weekend.  Anyhow, judge their sets below  and let us know what you think!
