Twin Shadow: Five Seconds

Happy Friday Earthlings,

One of our most favorite bands that emerged in the last few years is Brooklyn’s Twin Shadow.  George Lewis Jr. debuted the flawless album Forget in 2010 (produced by Chris Taylor of Grizzly Bear) to much critical acclaim.  Once he assembled a touring band, Twin Shadow was able to take the album to new heights during live shows throughout 2011.  George’s well written 80′s alt pop tunes are dipped in Shoegaze and New Wave stylings ala The Smiths meets The Dears.  Here is the first video single “5 Seconds” off of their new album Confess which hits cyberstores July 10th.  Directed by Keith Musil, the short film is based on the novel “Night of the Silver Sun” written by George Lewis Jr. and Eric Green.  It has a modernized take on misunderstood rebels similar to the classic biker film Easy Rider. Let us know if you dig it as much as we do!

Radiohead – Separator & Lotus Flower (Live)

Whatitdo Lovlies,

SwitchFlip Saturday Morning Special: Radiohead performing live at The Maida Vale Studios in London.  This is the King of Limbs Sessions, for the BBC show The Basement.  Watching their live performances and the way they blend their digital and analog equipment effortlessly is visually dazzling alongside the audio beauty we are accustomed to hearing. Something’s really organic with the way the songs flow during these live sessions…enjoy!

Lil Wayne: Mirror ft. Bruno Mars

Whatitdo Wurld,

Here’s Lil Wayne’s new ballad “Mirror” featuring Bruno Mars off of “The Carter IV“.  Looks like the concept is him “reflecting” while conjuring his inner “portrait artist”.  He was sure to use his “Red” to represent his “Club”, if you know what we mean.  Bruno pumps out yet another catchy hook, so this is sure to be another chart topper.

Das Racist: Brand New Dance

Wussshupyo,

Brooklyn’s “Alt-Hop” group Das Racist has a new video-single “Brand New Dance“.  They’ve been burning up the underground since 2010 with the release of their mixtapes Shut Up, Dude and Sit Down, Man.  In  late 2011, they made a real professional splash by dropping the album Relax. Heems, Kool A.D., and hypeman Dap are well known for their unconventional yet humorous hipster approach to the indie hip-hop genre.  These cats are basically a multi-media art project (releasing mixtapes, videos, 8 bit video games and blog editorials).  They’ve been getting a lot of love from the big dogs (Spin, Rolling Stone, Pitchfork).  Keep your eye out for these crazy characters in 2012.

Will.I.Am.: T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever)

Whatitdo Wurld,

Will.I.Am.‘s new single “The Hardest Ever” is the first video from his new project since the Black Eyed Peas took hiatus.  It looks like he’ll have a star studded cast on this new project, as we see here w/ J.Lo and Mick Jagger (yes, Mr. Rolling Stones).  Over 3Million views in less than a week of it’s release..”Oh My Goodness” is correct.  The verdict is out on this song, here at SwitchFlip Media, but we giggle when Mr. Jagger gets his groove on and rhymes “…going hard like geology.”
